z6 where to go?
I have a 95 hatch with a d16z6, 59300 zex cam, zex springs, port and polish, CAI, Walbrough 255, B&M fuel pressure reg, and soon to be exhaust/header. My question is this, where should I go from here? I always said bottles are for babies so nitrous is out. Would going turbo as opposed to n/a be a big jump with the things that are done? Opinions are welcome

i will never build an n/a project ever again. i believe forced (no nitrous) is 100% way to go. i dont know about that cam with a turbo, but if you put a decent turbo on your motor it could near double the stock power rating.

That is why I drove a stock HX around because I refused to spend hundreds to get a few extra ponies and no use fo rany of the parts (except a CAI) when I went turbo. Turbo is the best money I ever spent

Upgraded intake manifold. Then go to work on your block. Put in some Honda OEM pistons from another engine to bump compression. I've heard ZC pistons in a D16Z6 are a direct fit, not entirely sure though. That should bump compression quite a bit.

Re: z6 where to go? (ham)
so really was there a point to the port/polish if I am going turbo? Will it still help out? Also can anyone recommend a kit (power steering and ALL ac crap is gone so no worries on clearance) or tell me the best route to go on doing a turbo set up. Also my cam seal is leaking so I will be in the motor this week, should I change cams or stick with it? I hear nothing but good things about the zex/comp cam that I have. Thanks for all the input. (although I knew a turbo was going to be the way to do it.

Re: z6 where to go? (HuntsvegasHatch)
go "homemade" setup. youll learn so much about everypart that way and it will cost less. Stock honda cams I have heard are fine turbocharged up to 300hp so either switch back or whatever you got now should be fine I think? Port and polish is fine maybe a simple compression/leakdown test would be helpful before turbo, DRAG makes nice kits (so ive read) and will clear ac and steering if you want to slap that on. Hope this helps bro

yeah that helps a lot. So with the homemade kit do you recommend a certain turbo to be on the hunt for? I have heard that the SAAB maybe? I work in a custom fabrication shop but this is my first honda to build. So far it has been "educational" to come from old school big blocks to see how much potential these cars have. Thanks for all your help

Don't waste any more money on that crappy motor. If I were you I'd sell it asap. If you want, id be willing to take it off of ur hands, since my gf's car needs a new motor.

i found a junkyard 1st gen talon and raped damn near every turbo part i needed except the HF manifold and misc oil fittings. total cost was under $300.

on what setup....have a dyno vid. of a stock z6 with a garrett t03/t04 pushing 6.5 lbs. that put down 195 whp. and thats a stock z6, imagine a built z6 pushing 15 lbs. I can't guess your numbers if I dont know your setup, and even then its not gonna be accurate

There's not much more you could do but if you got the money you could...
1) high compression pistons
2) raise compression
3) increase displacment (overbore)
4) lighter flywheel
5) ITB's
etc. etc.
But unless you're truely set on going N/A, boost is the only way to go to get big numbers.
