Z6 timing belt on Y8?
hey guys, im wondering if you can use a z6 timing belt on a y8 motor. I need a new one for my y8 and i have a brand new z6 one sitting right here. it would be nice to use this one rather than buy a new one, but if it doesnt work it doesnt work. And when I say work I mean work well, not half assed https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif Thanks

Re: Z6 timing belt on Y8? (murmur9)
i thought timing belts had to match the head. IE z6 belt only w/ z6 head. Y8 Belt w/ y8 head. I remember reading about this when researching the mini-me vtec head swaps on the D-series blocks. thats why you bought a new timing belt.
part #'s the same? not that i dont believe the honda certified, but i just remember reading this. Shine some light. |
1992-1995 D16Z6:
14400-P28-004 BELT, TIMING (104RU24 A-555) (UNITTA) $35.18 1996-2000 D16Y8: 14400-P2F-A01 BELT, TIMING (104RU24 GB-333) $17.25 Different part #s. Then again, they might have the same amount of teeth and match the head and block. D16Z6 Timing Belt has 104 teeth (taken from BauleyCivic's Mini-Me). |
damn! thats a bit of a price difference

Re: Z6 timing belt on Y8? (egcoupe94)
Thats what I kind of thought when I made this post. I remember the y8 having a few more or less teeth so i figured how could the z6 belt with with a y8 if it has more or less teeth. where did that price quote n shit come from?
