You will have a problem with the EGR on the VX mainfold so You will get a CEL code if you dont install a mainfold w/o that EGR on it.

so if i understand you correctly, i must use the EGR from my VX IM on the z6 IM?(to avoid that code). Also, do i use a new Ex/Z6 intake manifold gasket or keep the Vx im gasket on the head? Thankx for any tips.

Well that the problemm you cannot use the EGR on the Z6 Mainfold there is no hole for it.. so to be honest.. you cannot do it. Its not worth the time to do

If you want better performance from your VX, you could use the Z6 intake manifold, and get an ECU from a 92-95 DX (P06). that way you are never running in 12 valve mode, it sort of does away with the "e" in VTEC-e, but thats for going slow and getting good gas mileage anyways. You'd also have to run a direct signal to the VTEC solonoid so it will always stay open.

dang...didnt know much bout the vx.. i only got 12 valves?bleh. well, until i decide on swapping in a z6 or y8 sohc vtec...ill just slap on a mugen-double-loop-knock off muffler(quiet for cops) and maybe a header. will the header have much effect with my vtec-E? or is it just gonna be a weight reducer in my engine bay?

thanx for the input guys!

I thought they only had eight valves.

Thats the CX. The VX has 16 valves. Below 2500, only half of the intake valves are being used...so 4/8 plus the 8 from the exhaust side = 12.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Honda Motor Co. &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">
A non-VTEC-E engine normally has one single cam profile for the intake valves. A VTEC-E engine has two different intake cam profiles. At low RPMs, each intake valve works from its own intake cam profile. One of the intake cam profiles is very normal looking. The other one, however, is almost perfectly round, with just enough profile to it so that it pushes the valve open just enough to avoid pooling of fuel above the valve lip. Therefore at low RPM, only one intake valve is opening and closing. Most of the intake fuel and air are squeezed through this one valve, resulting in a good swirling effect in the cylinder. The swirling effect optimizes the fuel/air mixture, thus allowing a very lean mixture to be used.

As the RPMs increase, the demand for more fuel/air rises as well. Once a certain RPM is reached (approximately 2500RPM for the Civic HX), the one-intake-valve configuration starts to become a significant intake restriction. At this time, a solid pin is pushed through the two intake valve rocker arms, thus binding the two rocker arms into a single unit. This causes both intake valves to open and close according to the normal cam profile, while the almost-round cam profile is no longer used. </TD></TR></TABLE>

CX VX it's easy to get them mixed up with what's left of my brain cells.
