Re: z6 crankshaft on a y8 motor??
I hear they are the same size just the y8 has one oiler for each rod.
And that is the reason im going to replace my y8 crank with the z6, just so i can minimize the possibility of spinning a bearing.

if the y8 has an oiler for each rod why would you put a z6 in to prevent a spun bearing?? Im nub to this.

Re: z6 crankshaft on a y8 motor??
I have not done it but they are the same part number if you call companies that do after market regrinds.
Also the Z6 Crank is exactly the same as the A6.
(I think ZC also but not 100% sure)
With my Y8 block im going to put a modified Z6 oil pump as well, and drill the oil channels bigger.

Re: z6 crankshaft on a y8 motor?? (civic_tuned)
Im going to use a z6 or a6 crankshaft just because its got a better system.
You dont see many Z6's with bearing problems, its just the 96 and up, im not sure when they corrected the problems.
This is the reason i have 3 y8 motors and all have less then 100k on them, one has 55k

wow i have 148,000 miles on my motor and still running strong. is it because the z6 has more oil holes. i went to a grinding shop and he told they come in two different sizing. he said to bring in mine and i have a friend who is selling me z6 crank s. im going to take it the grinding shop to compare both to c if they are both the same size. so u done this before?? so i should have any problems?? how bout bearing do i go with the size whats recommend on the z6 if i buy it??

It's actually a combination of both. Adding a HV oil pump only helps the fact that the crank only has one oil port per journal.
