Default Yupp, another help fix my damned mini-me thread

I got the bright idea to take out my perfectly fine JDM GSR and put a mini-me in my eg-->> https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1220992 . I ended up using the LS harness I had on the GSR that was wired for VTEC.

ECU:
It started up fine on the first try then I realized it was running on my chipped JDM GSR ECU and swapped it out with a stock P28. The P28 immediately threw a code and started to cause it to idle surge. When I tried to jump the code, the CEL just stays on and doesn't blink. I then plugged in a USDM P72 and the CEL went away and it idled fine so I kept it in there for the time being.

Driving:
I'm not sure if VTEC is engaging, but I'm almost positive it's not. Drivng on the streets it's fine, but if I try to hold the RPM at 3500-4000 RPM in 1st and 2nd gear it sputters/boggs/backfires a little. Once I hit about 50-60mph the CEL pops on . When I try to jump the code with the car on, nothing happens. When I turn the car off, it goes away. And when I leave it in gear and am cruising regardless what gear and let off the gas pedal, it just slows down like usual then a second later jumps.

Gas mileage is REALLY crappy too. 1/2 a tank got me 50 miles

Help is greatly appreciated guys.

EDIT: Ended up cleaning my IACV and changing the IAT sensor. I went back to the P28 also.

put the gsr back in that will most likely fix your issue, solid cel means bad ecu

I would use the p28 and try to figure out why the idle is surging, on my LS swap it ended up being the tps sensor needed to be adjusted, not the fiac or whatever that everyone usually has the problem with.

TPS is still originally calibrated. I'll try another P28 and cleaning the IACV.

is the purge valve and IAT sensor wired up correctly? Sounds like ECU could be faulty.

Are they both 2 wire plugs? I know the red and green one is suppose to go to the IAT and that means the other goes to the purge valves?

both are two wire plugs.
The IAT sensor is a green/white + red/yellow plug
The Purge vavle is a yellow/black + red

Not completely certain of the name, but the one wire sensor that I saw late lastnight went into block on the left hand side at the very top. Right under the head, is this the one you're talking about? Any other day I would go out and just look, but I don't want to look at my car right now. I'd also like to think you're bogging due to getting too much fuel. I don't think looking at the plugs is going to help much since you haven't been running on this long.

I think your talking about the coolant temp. sensor on the back of the block like on my b18a block.

I can't think of any other thing that is one wire except for that coolant temp sensor. Check to see if the color wires match up. What color is the one wire you have? Take some pictures of where the wires are coming from as well.

I was just thinking about it and yes that would make perfect sense, since he is using an LS wiring harness that has the coolant temp. sensor on the block, thats the exact area where it would be located, thats what that one wire plug is.. and the other 2 wire is in fact for the iat sensor.

Since you are not using a 92-95 civic wiring harness its not going to have the other 2 wire plug that looks similar to the iat that is for the purge valve or whatever... the ls harness doesnt have that plug.

I wonder if he has hooked up the coolant temp plug to the sensor on the head under the dizzy.

Anyhow, it all makes sense now. Reason your idle is high is because of the purge valve. Get it hooked up and you'll be fine.

It's an OBD I LS harness and I don't think that wire was ever attached to anything. I plugged back in a P28 last night and it threw an auto tranny code, so I'll rechip it tonight and an IAT code which I replaced with an extra I had laying around.

Thanks for the help guys

I hope the fuel consumption goes down.

Thanks for the help guys.

Now I'm throwing a CEL 43. I changed out my 255 BBK fuel pump to an OEM ITR, but it still is throwing the code after 5 min of driving. Any ideas on how to diagnose which part of my fuel supply system is screwed up? My friend though my injectors looked kind of big, being that I have never had any SOHC experience they all look the same to me. Could these be B series injectors which is causing the code?

most bseries injectors are the same as the d-series except the itr which has bigger and i thin the y7 has 170cc but most are 240cc.
