Your opinions before i buy
Alright, ive looked at so many ek's over the last couple weeks that its rediculous, but i always research before i buy, but this one im torn between. Its a 2000 dx, car is in prolly the best shape it could be for being 6 years old, some older woman drives it and its completely stock. Interrior is flawless and the car is even local to me (first local ek ive seen) only thing is it has 190k on it, which seems like an excessive amount for a 6 year old car. She said they are all freeway miles. I wanna do an h22 swap into the car, so the 190k doesnt bother me in the since that the motor will blow, but what do you guys think? She said i could have it for 3800. Here are some pics to go along with it.

Just because your replacing the motor that has almost 200k on it doesn't mean your ridding it of all those miles.. I mean if there was any insurance claim in the future the value will be down as far as payout goes. You also have to think about the rest of the car, all of the suspension parts also have many miles on them. Car looks clean though.

i would take it. i would only offer her 3 g's though. you have to take into consideration that the bushings on that car are probably worn to ****. but if you replace that and swap your good to go for another 100,xxx+ miles

Re: (bmoua)
All suspension needs replacing/repair on all cars at some point or another. So if you can/are going to replace the motor, go for it. Can't beat that. Especially if it's one you've been wanting one and it's the only local one. You could find yourself kicking your own *** if you pass on it.

That's a crap-ton of miles, who was the last old lady you knew who drives more than you? Is she the only owner?
Car looks clean though, work on the price.

Well this is what happens when people assume ****. Just because YOUR mother or grandmother wouldnt/doesnt have an aftermarket deck, doesnt mean all old people are like that. I know some older people who have little systems. Might not bump loud like mine, but it is better than stock and/or has MP3 capabilities.....something civics lack

Yea the mileage is really high, on my 99 EX, it states the average mileage for my car is 80,000 and mine currently has 85K. So for a 2000 to have double that is out of place BUT if it was a work car or a traveling car who cares, all that matters is if it was well taken care of. I still say buying it is FTW!

Re: Your opinions before i buy (Dr. *****)
Back when I bought my 96 civic I payed 3k for it. It had about 190k miles but its an EX. Also most of the car is freshly repainted and it had new lights. The car had been in an accident but I saw the body shop paperwork and it was all done properly. I hope this gives you a reference of about the price you looking for. I would say right around 3k would be a fair price. Just find as much wrong with it as you can and work the price down.

I just bought a 2000 DX with 65k on it. Don't ask what I paid... doesn't apply since it has a GSR, shaved moldings, and lots of other crap.
Anyway, I'm a **** about that "new car" feel and replace all the suspension on just about every used car I buy.
With this car, you can get a complete front setup (UCAs/bushings, upper/lower ball joints, tie rods, swaybar links) for under $200 off ebay. Then all you need are LCA bushings (less than $75).
For the rear, you can get factory trailing arm bushings ($60) and then upper/lower control arm bushings (about $100 for everything) or new LCAs that come with bushings.
If the car is SUPER minty, I'd just refresh the factory suspension pieces. Look EVERYWHERE for rust. A car that's seen that many road miles has had much more opportunity for **** to get tossed up in the wheel wells (salt, road grime, etc)
