Let's say you have a Civic hatch, let say 99-00, doesn't matter. If you could spend $10,000, no more, no less, how would you do it? Labor costs do not apply to things anyone with a few tools and half a brain can do (swaps, disc conversion, NOS) Try to be as realistic as possible. i.e. if you say B18c with a full turbo and NOS kit that equals 10K, it would be unrealistic since the brakes and suspension would still be stock, and would suck. So, think about trying to make it as well rounded as possible. This was my thought:
B18C Swap: $3500
Brembo front discs and good pads+braided lines: $200
Omni Sports: $650
Urethane bushing kit: $150 +$200 install (includes alignment)
Sus tech sway bar kit: $260
Dc short shifter: $120
NOS fogger plate nitrous system: $600
Dc header: $350
Thermal Cat-back exhaust: $550
AEM cam gears: $200
ACT clutch kit: $350 + $175 install
16" Rotas with Falken Azenis tires: $900
Omni F & R camber kit: $300
Tenzo R racing seats with sliders and brackets: $650
Si front lip and Type R rear lip + trim painted: $600
Alpine Cd player: $225
TOTAL: $9980
Maybe I left a few things out, what do you think?

Should I choose to accept it?
Suspension:
Omnipower streets $650
Front/Rear Camber Kits $200
OEM ITR Front/Rear Sway Bars + Beaks $250
ES Hyperflex Master Kit + Free Labor (if you're lucky) $120
Rota's $400
Azenis $250?
Brakes
Integra Spec Front/Rear Brakes (including MC, BB, Prop) $500
Brembo Blanks $140
AEM Pads $120?
Engine
B18C5 + Tuning around $5500
Total = $8130
Investment into something worthwhile $1870
I'm sure someone else can build a way more badass car than me.

H22, 75 shot, I/H/E
Hondata
Clutch + Flywheel
Good axles
GC/Koni Yellows
Suspension Tech Sway bars
Ebay strut and tie bars
Traction Bars
Brembo Blanks
Hawk Pads
Stainless Steel brake lines
Forbidden Shifter
Rota's + Tires
Front Camber Kit
No cosmetic mods, save the money for gas.
I'm way to lazy to put prices in, but I know it can be done for under $10K

Go K series and spend the extra 2000-3000 on your suspension, tires, and brakes...
I did
It is right around 10,000 too...
5 lug
pads
fluid
ss lines
bushings
omni coil-overs (race)
A spec racing rear brace + 32mm hollow sway bar
Kosie K1's 16x7.5
Azenis 215/45/16
traction bars
thats about 3000 in suspension and brake stuff
K series swap is between 6000-8000 running, if you are smart and can find the good deals.
OH yah I got a 99 hatch as well

I live 45 minutes from Import auto salvage. They are the only company I personally know of that will not only give you EVERY part needed to complete the swap, but they test, crate, and ship their motors VERY professionally. I was there on day to watch the guy they have take one out of a GSR. That is his ONLY job. He takes the motor out and uses special caps for all the hoses and connectors to make sure nothing gets into the motor or even bends the pins in the harness plugs. Besides, I could save $500 in shipping by driving there to pick it up.

ef_you_again, where in my post did I say anything about paying labor costs? I guess you could prob get a 1st gen b16 for that, but the newer b16's are well worth the extra $.

Yup. You're an idiot. You're telling me you can get a clean, complete b18C swap for $1500. No ******* way.
Maybe an abused c1... maybe for $2000 if you know people.
edit- and to the original poster:
Tenzo seats $650 < Delslow seats $200.
Thermal Catback $550 < ES oval + Piping $200-ish
Wow, i sound like an H-T ***** huh.

I wouldn't. I rather spend $10,000 on something that is actually worth something and something that can't be taken away or stolen from me from one day to the next.

because wrecked (and not wrecked in the front) 99-00 si's not are so common, right? these people also have to be pretty dumb to not know what their motor is worth, because the $500 for shipping (which it doesn't cost that much) still doesn't account for the price you gave earlier. Besides, there's something to be said for having a motor that was never 'enthusiast driven' aka ragged out.
