your GAINS from changing to OBD1 chipped ECU!
hey i was just wondering if any of you could see any gains once you converted your car over from obd2 to obd1 and got a chipped ecu on a bolt on gsr with skunk mani. i was wondering if it is worth it to convert to obd1 or just chip the p72 so that it only reads 1 runner in the intake. let me know. thanks alot

they around $100 for a jumper $150 for the ecu and $50-$150 to chip it.
so abot $300-$400
why don't you just buy a ecu a jumper and some hondata all for under $500 and have a WAAAAAAY better set-up.

I only did it because I got the harness and the ecu with the pyr program for $200. Didn't really see any gains. The 9800 rev limit is fun though!

check out hyperducktuning they have some great deals . You probably won't see huge gains, but the added tunability makes it worth it imo. Plus Hondata!

wait a sec you can get a jumper harness for 100 and the chipped ecu for 165 from hyper duck tuning. I bought a chipped ecu from him a while back because I never got one with my swap.. I dont know if there was a difference because I dont know what a stock on feels like.

Re: your GAINS from changing to OBD1 chipped ECU! (aw1234dude)
Here's my dyno graph from my 94 GSR...already obd1...but it shows the stock ecu vs. my custom all motor chipped p28 ecu. Mods are short ram intake, skunk2 IM, ctr intake cam, dc 4-2-1 header, test pipe, and greddy sp exhaust at the time.....
I sell chipped/socketed p28's for $185 shipped, and you can pick up a harness from jdmshit.com for $78 shipped....so thats as cheap as you'll find it! PM me if you have any questions.
thanks
Jason

The problem I found with most chips is that they advance the timing. Running 11.4:1 on the stock ecu, I don't really want MORE timing. Hondata seems to be the way to go.
