You 5g's with the center console...
How do you mount an aftermarket radio in the lower console? I was looking at the instructions and the OEM one mounts using the bracket on the DIN pocket and two screws on the frame of the console itself. I'm moving the radio down there and blanking off the top spot for gauges.

You mean like this???
Originally a gathers EQ/"junk pocket"(junk pocket seen where the factory radio was installed) went in that spot and they were not as deep as a head unit so it will stick out about 1/4". When I put this in I had to fabricate a bracket for the back of the unit so I could mount it to the frame thats in there. There wasint anything on the sides for it to mount to. So if I were to put some pressure on it I could still move it up and down slightly but its holding strong.

Yeah. Kinda like that. I guess I'll have to make some sort of bracket so I can use my head unit. I would get rid of it for an OE CD player but I've had it for a long time and like it.

I'm not 100% on this one, but I believe you can go to any place that sells car-audio equipment (ie Circuit City) and get a double-din mounting piece. It fills the complete double-din hole but leaves an opening for a single-din radio and a pocket below.

I didn't think of that. Maybe it would have the same mounting holes as the factory pocket? Or will the din pocket and radio mount into this double din bracket?

It is made for cars that had a factory double din radio. It is a piece of ABS plastic basically that fills the entire double din area. It has the single din hole to put the din-cage in.
