Yes? 1994 Del Sol VTEC for $2,500 do I bite?
The driver of this car is a teenager around 17-18 and his doctor dad is making him sell it (iirc). It was listed at $3200 before but now they dropped it. It has very little rust and the body work is all in the front as you can see in the picture, but I am worried about how badly he beat the car.
What do you think, offer him $2000?? Or should I run far and fast??

^^ 93hatch, was yours the VTEC trim (b16a3) though?
The thing about this deal is I was under the impression that the 'VTEC' trim Del Sol is considerably rare (something like a 1-in-50 odds) so I would like to get everyone's opinion on the matter. That and in my area there are not many Del Sols (this is northern Minnesota mind you) and I've actually never even seen a VTEC Del Sol in person due to that fact. This kid cant even spell VTEC right -- I've seen him spell it like 2 or 3 different ways, none correct.
Would $2000 be too much for a car in this condition? I was thinking I could fix it, drive it for a few months or something and sell it in the summer time when everybody is getting the sunshine bug.

well depending on the milage thats racked up i wouldent see it being to bad of a deal cause around my way just the b16 w/tranny and ecu goes for 1700 so for 300 more you get the car that it goes to lol. and if you hold out and wait it might not be to good right now with the economy the way it is there isnt many people buying new cars right now

b16 del sol is the rarest of the del sol's. But, the '94 edition is the most common year of the VTEC trim. I'd low ball him to around 1900.

I'm from the twin cities and have been a sol owner for about 8 years. $2000 for that car is a real deal if it doesn't have any rear quarter panel rust. I picked up my (3rd ever, but currently 2nd in the stable) 93 Si for $1200 with some major mechanical problems and an amateur paint job. A month later it spun a bearing and I still wasn't pissed with the deal. Decent sol shells in MN are getting hard to come by, so if you can get a clean vtec (minus the obvious light front end damage), I'd go for it.
Honestly, I'm tempted to send the link to a friend.

well if it was dropped before im sure it could drop again...ask yourself...does the kid know what he has? id approach the deal with 2000 and if they say know then settle somewhere in the middle...in any case your still coming out with a b16 del sol...now if only it had a trans-top

Nothing wrong with this deal. A B16 Del Sol is a lot of fun. Actually even the lesser models are fun to drive. Are you going to win any races? Well... You shouldn't be racing on the street anyway so that's moot.
I've got an Si model but I would love to own that VTEC. Buy it already.
