Hey h-t's, i've got a y8 transmission that grinds every gear...it's off of a 98 Civic EX, you guys think it's worth repairing? *IF* i can repair it, i get it for FREE!!! good for my y7 motor and VTEC head....any advice on what's wrong? thanks..

I think he's saying that he can get a y8 tranny for free but it grinds every gear. And he would like to know if it would be worth repairing. And imo, yes it is worth it. Your y7 tranny has longer gears than the y8. The y8 will definately help out with lower 1/4 ETs

Grinds every gear.....good to turn in as a core for a rebuild one. I would never put it in a car, since it wouldn't last long. Synchros are probably fried to hell and back.

If it grinds in every gear there are possibly other issues with your clutch or pilot bearing that may fix the problem. If you cant pull a trans out though I'd take it to the dealer. Just to let you know, grinding in EVERY gear isnt usually the tranny(unless you tear the hell out of the trans daily).
