Y8 manifold on Y7 motor swap problems
well after a couple hours of swapping out and running vacuum lines and such
I found that there is no way to mount the throttle cable
the Y7 manifold has 2 mounting holes that the BRACKET that holds the throttle cable goes into and feeds the reel on the TB
on the Y8 I do not see anywhere for it to mount except on the TB itself leavin the reel to be fed at a high angle where the throttle doesnt work so this is obviosly not the correct way to mount it
where do you guys mount it after you did a swap
or hell anyone with a Y8 manifold show a pic so I can see where ot mount the bracket at?

You need the y8 throttle cable bracket which you mount on the two threaded holes on top of the y8 manifold.
Is that throttle body a y7 or y8?

Get this bracket, and until your Y8 throttle body gets there, you'll either have to wait or drill a hole in the Y7 throttle plate to stick the throttle cable in. You'll have to size it up to where it needs to be.

well Now I get that famous 1500-2500 rpm rev that is so famous
Its the same IACV just on a different manifold whats the deal
I mean I left the Y8 IACV on there just unplugged and plugged in the Y7 IACV that has it on the TB and ran coolant to that one so why am I getting this weird surge in idle

oh man, you got it SO backwards. Yes, the cable is too long when you swap manifolds (i still have to get the y8 cable for my y7/y8 mani swap.
You dont need the y8 TB, just the flat metal piece where the cable end goes through and is held on by one bolt. the cable attaches from the other side where you have pictured. how did you get a manifold with the bracket not attached? its held on by 2 bolts, which i see you dont have either.

I tried stickign my fingers over where the cooland "would" loop in and then out btu that doesnt affect anything
what holes are you meaning?

Im converting to a P28 so I gotta use a y8 tb and the 2 wire IACV on the y8 mani cause Y7 is 3 wire so im almost done converting over just a couple things in the way but why the surging idle?

Re: (Civic Racer X 7)
ok, first of all, the tiny hose next to the fpr, those 2 holes are where the bracket would be to attach the throttle cable, now, you have to use the y7 tb with the y8 rotor, the y7's rotor is at a different angle, also, is the iacv on the back of the mani, if its not, you cant use that manifold for the obd1 swap, but if its plugged up on the back of the mani, you need to use a manual or auto y7 tb with the y8 rotor, or y8 auto tb, if you need it more in depth just pm me, i did this swap a month ago, and its still fresh in my mind, hope this helps, and you might be getting that idle surge if the mani was from a 99-00 civic, caz those had the cold idle assist holes that need to be plugged up, if its a 96-98 you need to find another vacuum leak somewhere, like the cruise control port rear driver's side, this needs to be plugged

Re: Y8 manifold on Y7 motor swap problems (Civic Racer X 7)
the surge in the idle could be the iacv being stuck and not moving. that happened to my y7 when i parked it for awhile. i took it off and cleaned it, now its ok. what's this i hear about the y7 throttle cable, are the y7 and y8 cables different sizes?

I dont think thats it it ran fine I cut it off swapped manis and then there was a problem
maybe there is a vacuum leak somewhere
I studied them very carefully though to see where each thing went I would have noticed an unplugged nipple or something
and it didnt have the air injection holes like the 99-00 manis do so I know its a 96 97 or 98
anything else i could check
when it warms up and starts bouncing I unplugged the IACV
and it instantly changed from 1400-2500
to 1400-1600 back and forth real fast

ok, the cruise control nipple will be.....say you have the mani on the car right now, on the back of the mani, on the bottom right, driver's side, there will be a small nipple, it looks like the same nipple off the fpr, all ex's mani's have this, and yes it could be a faulty gasket, did you clean the head when you took the old on off?

for future reference to this problem be sure to use the correct TB gasket lol
I had the Y8 gasket inbetween a Y8 manifold and a Y7 TB causign the problem
switched to a Y7 gasket and it works great

Re: (hondasport2000)
I did a swap liek this but have some problems also...I have a skunk2 pro series manifold with a y8 auto throttle body and my idle surges...does anybody know which throttle body gasket i should use, y7 or y8? also i have the y8 iacv on the back of the manifold acting as a block off plate but i have the two nipples connected with a piece of hose, is that ok? anything else i need to look out for? thanks
