Default y8 intake manifold on y7

I know it will bolt up, and from what I've gathered it works flawlessly

but I just want to confirm a few things

if I get the IM off an automatic I will need to use my TB (which is not a problem) because of a sensor

I was told by someone who I would consider a honda guru that the 96-98 and the 99-00 are differant and since I have a 97 civic hatch that I will need the 96-98 IM...is this correct? can anyone confirm 100%...I haven't heard/found this anywhere else just from him

any help appreciated

the y7 is a down draft intake and the y8 is a side draft. so as i was told the throttle bodies can not be swapped.

Yes you use your y7 throttle body on the y8 auto manifold. Get the 96-98 auto y8 manifold because you do not want to have to worry about the air injection holes. Even if you have a 99-00 y7 you do not use the air injection holes. If a 99-00 manifold is all you can find then you will have to jb weld the air injection holes shut.

Thanks for the replies, let me try to see if I understand this straight,

so the main diff is that the 99-00 have the ait injection holes?

what about the diff between auto/manual ? just the lack of sensor on the auto's right?

I think the 99-00 auto intake manifold doesn't have the air injection holes. The 99-00 manual intake manifold deffinately has air injection holes. I did this manifold swap on my dx hatch I just jb welded the air injection holes...no big deal.

Yes the 99-00 y8 manifolds have air injection holes right above each intake runner and one main one on the top of the flange.

The auto manifold has the 3-wire IACV underneath the throttle body just like your y7 throttle body thus you reusing the y7 throttle body is a good idea, BUT you will need the throttle rotor from a y8 throttle body because your y7 throttle body is mounted differently than the y8 throttle body is. I have those pieces in storage if you need it.

Both auto and manual y8 manifolds have the air injection holes.
