Makes no difference, they're both three layer.

I've heard many moronic questions in my lifetime, but....ohh...nevermind.... Welcome to the site Newbie...

Slomofo there are diffrent thickness gaskets, yes they both may be three layer but diff in thickness. For example they may come in .027 or .036 or .037 yes all three layer but diferent thikness.

Thank you for making me look like a jackass.

Still, I know what this guy is getting at, the Z6 stock CR is 9.2 and the Y8 CR is 9.6, I don't think he is going to achieve his goal of raising his Compression Ratio from a stock head gasket.

Well maybe his goal isnt rasing the compression. Ive always used y8 headgaskets on my z6 motors because they cost $37 from honda while the z6 gasket is almost $75. Its 1/2 the price! They are both 3 layer yes, but the y8 is thinner (so i hear correct me if im wrong...ive never measured the difference). But i dont think you would ever notice the difference.

You can use any 88-00 sohc headgasket, vtec or not, any will work. Ive used a 88 paper head gasket on my z6 once...she took 15psi of boost! I have a y8 head gasket on my ZC sohc block (88-91 pm6) with z6 head.
