Y8 header mod with pic!
My stock d16y7 header is cracking. I want to replace it with a y8 but I don't want to extend the o2 sensors or run a cat. and have to redo my stock exhaust system. I was thinking about picking up a stock oem y8 header and modifying it. I was thinking about plugging the one o2 sensor located at the end of the header and welding 2 o2 bungs up where my stock sensors are so I don't have to extend the wires. I was going to do the spark plug fouler trick on the secondary o2 sensor. I want to know if this will work? Will my idea work so I don't get a check engine light?
SCROLL DOWN FOR UPDATED PICS!!!!

Installed the header with a slight change from the pic I posted. No check engine light and i've driven almost 40 miles so far!

Re: Y8 header mod with pic!
sounds like alot of work for minimal gains. and im not 100% sure but if there isnt a cat you will probly get a code for your secondary o2 since its going to be reading the same as the first. if you want to save the hassle and be able to run a single o2 system just get an o2 simulator for the secondary, then it will think there is still a cat and not thow any codes.

That should work with the bung extender in the downstream 02 sensor. Do it all the time to get through emissions here in md. I have a couple of these cats laying around if you would like to buy one

Re: Y8 header mod with pic!
If I put the primary o2 sensor on one of the 4 runners would I get a wrong reading? How should I place the sensors? I was thinking about putting the primary o2 sensor on one of the 4 runners and the secondary on the section where 2 runners are narrowed down to 1 runner. Do the sensors need to be spaced apart a certain distance to get an accurate reading or could I put the o2 sensors within 2-3 inches of eachother on the same section of the header? Any advice would be appreciated!
