Y8 head VS: Z6 head flow wise???

Default Y8 head VS: Z6 head flow wise???

Just wanted to know what the difference was besides the COMP ?? anyone know??

besides CR, deck height, and cam key location and cam sprocket TDC marks.

also, almost forgot, there is an extra port to the manifold on the y8, so if you "accidently" use a z6, or zc IM gasket, your idle will be fuct.

They are only differ about 2-4 hp max. correct me if I am wrong.
What are your plans?

I block/cover it with a spare cap from the break line bleeder

Anything thick to cover it will be fine.

I have a Y8 in my car now but i want to build the motor but i can not have no car for a week so i got a spare D16Z6 and im gonna just build that

the combustion chambers are different as well.

that is the best combo the y8 manifold is the best for the d series and the z6 head flows better.

I just finished reading a post on the D-series board about this.
Apparently the Y8 head has a curve in one side of the intake ports, allowing for better low- and mid-rpm swirl, while the Z6 has equal-length and size ports to promote high-rpm flow. The Y8 also splits the port farther back than the Z6. It was noted, however, that unless you're pushing massive power, the flow characteristics aren't that different, so you won't notice any appreciable difference.
