Default Y8 Crank

I have a y8 crank that is good & a z6 crank that is bad.

From what I have read the y7/8 cranks are the cause of the Y7/8 oiling issues.

The y7/8 crank was cross drilled. They only have 1 oil hole in each journal. The z6 has 2 because the oil holes were drilled straight through..

I was thinking of having the oil holes in my y8 crank drilled straight through.

So it would be cross drilled and drilled straight through.

Would this work?
I'm thinking it might need more oil, so I would just increase the oil pressure..

I can't find a z6 crank that is in good shape. Most have had a spun bearings. I don't want to machine a z6 crank and get thicker bearings.

In the picture blow you can see I have both but the z6 had a spun bearing.
Bought it for $5, thinking it could be polished but it can not. It needs to be machined... I don't want to deal with this.

So that's why I'm asking about drilling the y8 crank.

I bought a running z6, when i took it apart it had a y8 crank in it.

I have measured the crank and compared it with the z6 and they both are the same.

They both are made in the same cast.
All d16 cranks are the same and can be interchanged, they do have a few minor differences.

The biggest difference is the oil holes. The y8 has a grove machined where the rear main seal is. Also the y8 is .002 bigger then the z6 in the same spot.

The grove is only .003 deep according to the OEM specs. I figured I would have this machined down .002

The z6 oil holes have been counter sinked as well, this is called chamfering.

So why not have it drilled straight through and cross drilled.
I would also have the holes counter sinked and milled .002 where the rear seal goes. This way the crank has the best of both worlds.

The z6 also has oiling issues but not as bad as the y8.
I figured this would fix the problems all around.

I just want some options before I do this..

What issues do you all think might come from doing this if any?

Also why don't the center journal have any oil holes. Neither the z6 or y8 have them?

What do you all think!!

Again with this same question? I thought you already said you were taking it to have drilled or were you just all talk?

The only problem I can see with this, is the oil pressure. I will have to increase the oil pressure.
Or better yet, be patient and try and find a good Z6 crank? I have a Z6 crank sitting here waiting for me to complete my build. Found it on the Marketplace. See them for sale on there all teh time. Cost me less than any machining you're talking about getting done.

Here's all the search results on this dead and tired issue.

I think this sort of attitude will also get your thread locked. You can tell someone you don't want their input without using caps, bold, huge font and profanity.
