Default Y8 block and a z6 head swap. tried searching please help. urgent.

i have a D16y8 non-vtec automatic. and i want to put a D16z6 vtec manual head on this. My question is:
1) will this combo work
2) can I use the ECU and harness from the z6 on the y8 block with no problems?
3)am I going to run into any problems with the automatic block being put into a standard transmission?

PLease let me know as soon as possible because i am about to buy the y8 block and would like to know if this all will work. i did a little bit of searching but couldn't find the answers i was looking for. thanks you guys are awesome!

MY car is a D16z6 vtec standard. I am buying a d16y8 block that is not vtec and an automatic. so i just need to know if I can put my D16z6 head on the D16y8 block and still have vtec? Also, if my car is manual and the block was for an automatic will it still work in my car?

First off. All D16y8's are VTEC. It just doesn't say on the valve cover. And yes, the engine will work with your setup.

ok, well i guess someone removed the vtec solnoid from the Y8 head because there isn't one. but the automatic block being bolted up to a standard transmission should work? do I need to have any test done( like compression or anything like that) after I put the z6 head on the y8 block?

Yes the block will work. Was the vtec solenoid removed? Is there a place to bolt it on? If not, then its a Y7 head. And yes, a compression test is a great way to find out how healthy the motor is.

X2

Do a compression test, and this will tell if you have a "good" motor. Z6 heads are put on Y8 blocks all the time, or vice versa.

Well, what does it say on the block? Either way, the z6 head will fit the y7 block.

Yes.

That's what we call a Mini-Me.
