Y8 Auto tranny removal?**UPDATED**
ok so im replacing my tranny because it is slipping and it doesnt always go into reverse.
i have removed all bolts that are connected to the motor aswell as the rear mount and tranny mount.
the tranny does not seem to want to fall.
do i have to remove the torque converter to remove the auto tranny?

where's your service manual..? trust me it's worth the $12.
you need to remove the 8 bolts holding the torque converter to the flex plate. if you havn't yet this involves removing the lower exhaust from the manifold, and the dust cover from the trans, then you can access the bolts.
double check that all your wires and shift linkage are loose too.
*and be sure that the torque converter stays with the transmission, don't pull it off of the input/pump shaft.

your neighbor needs to get his own..haha.
i don't have a pic at the moment i can show you, but if you climb under the car, with your feet out the front, looking up at the engine... you'll see the oil pan to the left, and the transmission to the right. at the point where the two meet, there is a black steel dust cover and two aluminum braces (i know these are on the 5sd, i assume they're on the auto) on the transmission (if you havn't already removed them). once that is removed with 3 or four bolts you'll see the flex plate inside the transmission bell housing. it'll be kind of a gold color (or covered in oil...) with a lot of holes in it. around the primiter of this plate you'll see 10mm-headed bolts. these are the flex plate to torque converter bolts. you'll have to loosen and remove what you can see, then turn the motor over by hand to get to the rest.

thanks RonJ@HT
Unseen, the image under item 19 in RonJ@HT's post is the specific area i was describing. what i refered to as the "flex plate" is called out as a drive plate in the image.

You have to remove the inspection cover to get at the torque converter bolts. is it moving at all? or still jammed in place?

THank you RonJ@HT and HondaMark35.
i managed to remove the torque converter bolts and
the tranny just slipped out like butter!
OMFG! i never thought removing an auto tranny is soo much work!
i thought it was going to be as easy as removing a standard tranny
but DANG!!!!
i drained the oil from the tranny and when i dropped it, a
SH^% ton of oil came out! ugh! my drive way looks like crap now.

now, i ask as a fellow Honda Driver, can any1 PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, help me with this?

having the same problem on a different transmission... i would be pretty suspicious of what has been reused/left on the car. i'm thinking faulty wiring or maybe bad PCM..

Re: Y8 Auto tranny removal?**UPDATED**
i dont think its the tranny cuz it would be one hell of a
coincidence if i got another tranny that has the same problems
as my old one.
whats the PCM and where is it located?
wiring checked out

Re: Y8 Auto tranny removal?**UPDATED**
Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is just a subsection of the ECU that controls operation of the transmission. Check the wires running between the transmission and ECU.

Ok. well an OBDII B ECU will not work in an OBDII A car.
since the small plug is completely removed on the OBDII B.
so does any1 know how i can deal with the codes?
can it be the TCM?(transmission control module)
