Y7/Y8 mini me questions
I've never done a mini me. I went from my stock VX to an LS, GSR, then LS/Vtec. My buddy bought a 98 EX coupe. It blew 2 holes in the y8 block. The head was fine so he bought a 98 Y7 block. Which timing belt should he use? What cam gear should he use? I know he'll have to change some wires for the IACV. I heard that he should use a y8 belt and the y7 cam gear but there are too many confusing posts. Any help will be greatly appreciated. PS. I tried to talk him into a B swap lol.
He's using everything from the y8(wiring harness, ecu, etc...)except he's using a y7 bottom end.

Re: Y7/Y8 mini me questions
cam gear should match the type of belt , they have 1-5 more teeth then the others.

Re: Y7/Y8 mini me questions
i did a mini me swap in my 4dr a while ago. i just used the y8 timing belt on a aem cam gear when i put the y8 head on the y7 block. he'll have to add the knock sensor, take the a13 wire out of the ecu, and the iacv, etc. i would def do the b sweries swap. i spun a rod bearing and had a rod knock like 2 months later. idk if it was from the added hp or what but i did a b series swap. that was more worth the work

I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT TIMING BELT AND CAM GEAR TO PUT A y8 head on a y7 bottom end.
I don't need any other info. It's not my car and people who think they're doing me a favor by being a smartass and posting faq links that shouldn't be faqs since they didn't get it done and running right in the 1st place need to shut up and not post. I'm getting more and more irritated. This is why I went B series from the gate! I need info from someone who has actually done THIS mini me.

Re: Y7/Y8 mini me questions
I'm glad these forums aren't what they use to be. I'm just going to figure it out on my own. I had no problem getting my LS/Vtec in time and a single cam is easier. Figured more people did this stupid mini me before since they're cheap. I hope the mods delete those stupid mini me faqs where the people didn't get it running right. It's pathetic that they were placed under faqs in the 1st place.
