Default y7/y8 mini me problemss

My buddy has a 96 dx stick which until tonight had been running a y8 head from an auto with vtec not yet wired.

The car is a circle track car, a piece of ****, and someone had cut the diagnostics port wires and theyre nowhere to be found.

It runs great, with no check engine light when using the stock ecu. Yet, after wiring vtec (its right) and plugging in the p2p ecu the car pops a check engine light...Plug in the dx ecu and its perfectly fine again.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Automatic Y8 manifold and throttle body too? automatic or manual P2P? Either way you're gonna throw a code, if you use an automatic manifold with an automatic ECU, you'll throw codes for the automatic tranny, running a manual ECU you'll throw an IACV code unless you've swapped to a 2 wire IACV and swapped a couple of pins at the ECU.
