Y7 to Y8 head swap - Automatic?

Can this head swap work out okay with an automatic transmission? If it does, is there anything specific I should know?

I'm fairly certain I do need a Auto VTEC Ecu (P2P, etc), but is there anything else I should know before jumping into this? Thanks!

Get the full swap, including the transmission. Save yourself the headache.

In your case, you have to match the ECU to the head. You also have to match the transmission to the ECU. Basically, you need to do a complete EX swap if you want to do a Y8 head.
