d16y7 block d16z6....obd2 ecu?
doing a minime swap.
I have the z6 head already, if i ran a y8 intake mani and got a obd2 wiring harness, which ecu should i use? which dizzy? and would this be enough...( other than the stud issue, using the z6 timing belt)
more important i need to go through emissions in NY what issues will i run into with this setup when they hook into the computer?
thank you

bump, ty
and i have read mini me's , obd2-0bd1, and all other forms, straight answers from those that KNOW EACTLY are hard to find...
Thank you

I've been running a y7/z6 for several years now. There are several issues and many ways around them, just depends on what your'e willing to do. If your going to run an obd2 ecu then its a p2p. The main problem with this is the civic ex has a preasure sensor on the gas tank and the lx,dx dont so it throws a code. People have said you can prevent this code from popping up by turning the key to the run pos. for ten seconds before starting. This has never worked for me. Also your iacv is three wire and the p2p is looking for a two wire. There are a couple ways around this. Ex harness, three wire to two wire conversion. Using the ex harness will alow you to simply plug in the knock sensor you'll have to add or you can just run a wire using your harness. The knock sensor location is already threaded so it just screws in. As far as the dizzy I just modified mine to fit the z6 head. IMHO the easiest way around these and a few other issues would be to convert to obd1, hang on to your y7 ecu and plug it in for emissions testing.

Why would the y7 ecu throw a code? Everything it's looking for is there except the three wire iacv and that can easily be changed back. Using the y8 changes nothing mentioned before.

okay except the gas tank. using an EX harness, a y8 head and intake, and EX ECU, there are no changes. am i correct in this assumption?

All changes still apply. The only differance in the y8 and z6 head are the combustion chambers and the distibutor mount. Like I said before there are differant ways around these issues but there are several to deal with. The easiest is to convert to obd1 and run a p28 which will eliminate the need for the knock sen. and the po452 po453 codes for the fuel tank preasure sensor, and if you use an ex harness it would eliminate the need to convert from three to two wire iacv.

Best set up for that would be using Obd-1 p28 or p08 ecu. Obd-1 has more tuning options and less sensors to worry about. I do these conversions a lot for my customers

Re: d16y7 block d16z6....obd2 ecu? (monotech)
okay, i understand all the reasons to change to obd1, i really do.
But i still need to pass emissions when.
If i change to OBD1. for tuning and avoiding pressure sensor in gas tank.
what do i do to get it inspected? in NY they connect to ecu for 97,
if i were to plug in the y7 ECu will it throw codes for the time they are reading the car?
thanks
