i was thinking of doing a "mini me" , i guess u can call it that, on my hx. now i heard this can put out some good numbers. question is has n e one ever done this before. I know everyone is probably going to tell me keep the y5 head cause of the roller rockers and such but i want to try this out. thanx y0

yup it has been done, just get the ecu and swap the head on and you're set.

Should be a good pair. Instead of going with the ECU, I would get some AEM management and use your stock wiring for the o2's since HX's run widebands. Just a suggestion that might save you some CEL's in the long run.

or stick with the HX ecu and run an AFC to handle the vtec engagement points

The problem with that is you'd still be running lean most likely, which would starve an EX head for fuel.

As far as I know the y5 and y8 bottom is the same, so you'll really end up with a y8.

Throw on the EX tranny first and see if that does enough for you. The y5 has power hidden in it, just have to find it. The 12hp doesn't seem worth a hole head swap. Also the IM from the y8 is a big part of the HP gain. The cam on the y5 imo is better than the y8, since there is no overlap with the intake and exhaust valves. Plus the roller rockers with reduce friction/wear on the head, and the whole time you're running the HX ecu and lean burnin', so you'll still be getting the upper 30's in gas milage.
