Re: Y bypass for down pipe (pureaznxex)
I dont know if this is what your looking for or not my wholeslaer carrys it (so I can get it for you if you want one), but the size seems alittle small. Heres the info on it. Now you can manually control the flow of your vehicle's exhaust either thru the stock exhaust system or straight out the pipe, with an exhaust cuut-out from Mr. Gasket. Made from durable cast iron, the exhaust cut-out will accept 2 inch O.D. exhaust pipes, though it can be used on other size tubing thru the use of adapters/reducers (not included). Brazing is required. Each cut-out is complete with a control cable and installation instructions.

thats pretty sweet and actually exactly what I was looking for... how much do they run? What size are they? 2-1/2" would be ideal.... also what kind of material is it? It'd be nice to be able to weld it to mandrel bends.

I was thinkin about gettin one of those for my friend's car. Running around town with the closed pipe and open pipe on the highway after 5th gear would be sweet. I wonder if there's a way to hook it up for WOT?

cheesefrog uses this setup (cheesefrog is famouse for runnnig with dodge vipers with his red ek hatchback)
im sure it wouldnt be hard to fabricate something like this. as for opening at wot, just use the cable

Re: (neon_ice)
yes, there was also an idea a while back to hook up the electic cutout to vtec... once vtec is hit, a relay is hooked onto the wire to allow the cut-out to open...
but, the cut-out doesn't open very quickly so it kind of defeats the purpose...
too bad, mad vTEcH y0

for some of the NA engines, this setup might actually not work too well for you guys because you need some back pressure.
However, for force induction peeps, this sucker is GORGEOUS! Nice to leave it close when you are just driving around town so it doesnt make that much noise. But once you are at the track or racing, let it rip!

one of my friends had one of these. I think he thought it was pretty cool. He had stock looking car and exhaust, but sometimes he would open it up and make people **** on theirselves.

wont the exhaust still be flowing thru the normal exhaust system even when the dumptube is open?
i mean i'm sure most of it will go out the dump tube.. but some will still go out the other one..

I love people that say this, b/c they are completely wrong. Tenths just fall off at the track when you run open header. And if thats not enough, ive seen many dyno charts of people not only gaining horsepower but gaining plenty of torgue too... its not just top end either.. the whole graph jumps up.
anywys i was thinking about doing this too... put stock type r exhaust on the ole hatch and hitting the switch at the track or when ever i get a race on the road.
My only concern was weather or not in completely seals or not... theres nothing worse than an annoying exhaust leak.

I'm just quoting what some more knowledgable peeps are saying... I've personally used a test pipe on my own car and I definately think it freaken helps ALOT! But ****, whatever floats everyones boat...
I just know for a fact that it is definatley more beneficial for the FI peeps.

A.) backpressure doesn't help jack ****, that's a common myth/misconception.
B.) that electric cutout that you're all showing is MADE by quick time performance and can be ordered in any inner diameter from about 2.0 inches to 4.0 inches. Yeah, it takes about three seconds to open, but you don't run it open on the street and don't need it to open when m4d 3rD g34R vT4cK kicks in (that's the gayes idea I've ever heard, by the way, when you can just run it open all the time ).
C.) there are about 100 topics on this and, had you done a search, I wouldn't have had to waste my precious time coming in this gay thread.
Wo0t to one and all,
Mike.
