wtf?! battery or alternator problem
on saturday i went out to start up my car and it fired right up. I drove to blockbuster which was about a quarter mile away and got some movies. When i got back in the car, I started it up again but this time it took longer than usual. After that, my cluster lights were very dim even on the brightest setting, my clock was out, and whenever I floor it to go a bit faster it would feel as if I have no power.
as i got back to the house I shut the car off and tried to turn it back on. i got nothing. i started the car up last nite and it fired up with hesitation but after it wouldnt fire up.
could this be the alternator?

yea its the alternator. your car was running off the battery which is why it was still able to start. after it drained all the power is when it stop working cause the alternator wasent there to charge up.

Re: (ME SO FST)
Well, and the loss in power you feel is possibly because the alternator is seized and just dragging the belt over the pulley instead of the pulley actually turning with it. I bet you notice your belts squeeling soon.

does your battery light go on in the cluster? if it does, then theres a charging problem. i got a rebuilt alternater for 90 bucks, dont go to kragen and autozone and those places, look in yellow pages and find a starter/alternater rebuilder. $90!!

Re: (stripes777)
i would notice my battery light whenever i would drive it hard...like once i drive past 4000rpm it would flicker but would never stay solid.
