i dunno with a older car i would but u got the second 02 after the cat and it will never run the same and its not like u need all the power in the world...u just got i/h/e

Thats not always good. Do you need the extra air flow?

if your car is loud on the interior when you are crusing it sucks...i used to have a badass system in my cb7 and i just got headaches so i got a lous *** exhaust ..more times being pulled over and i couldn't talk to anybody on my cell while crusing it was so loud...overall

hollowed cat on a daily driver 96 and up
hollowed cat on daily driver below 96

Lucky for me, my girl is in into racing, and she like loud cars
she loves the noises of borla from camaros

if its the 02 sensory which you're worried about.
the secondary sensor in the OBDII car's which is on the cat, only checks the cat for
its health, and has no function on your driving ability. The sensor which is on your header will effect your driving, not the one on your cat.

you think the air from my 4cly engine, is giong to travel all the way from Texas to Cali just so you can sniff it.

don't gut your cat. It sucks. The air will just bounce around inside of the cat and not have a smooth flow. Just get a test pipe or hi-flow cat.

If turbo, I would use a testpipe.

If NA I would use a High flow cat or stock cat.

You aren't going to pick much of anything up by gutting the stock cat unless it is clogged or something.

Go with a Carsounds Highflow Cat. It is only a 2 hp difference between that and a test pipe on Most NA Applications.

It is Not worth the hassel and the PRICE you pay on the environment. You think it's funny but you had better believe that the air quality on the East coast will be affected by that fire in California.

Sure you think it's just one car what will it hurt... But then 10000 other people think the same thing anf look what you have... All for 3-4 hp over a STOCK cat and 1-2 Hp over a High flow cat

we are also driving cars with tiny 4 cylinder econo motors. Tell that to the v8's.

i know there are some poeple here that did it, on there cars, what are there opinions, would it make more air flow.

the reason i'm asking is because i have the cat out of the car, so why not gutt it and add couple of horses

i did it on my si and i could feel a big difference when it was gutted...or it could have been then i think the louder your car is the faster it goes i felt a difference...not good for the air but do what you want

thats what i wanted to know, if it will actually gain power, or not. Because some people say that it will gain power since the air don't have to struggle though it, and some say you need the back pressure so don't you'll loser power.

gutting out your cat will hurt power. don't do it. just get a high flow cat or something of the sort, don't be cheap. reason why it will hurt power is because it may create a freer flowing area, but it's a 'bulge' in the pipe(small piping to large to small again) causing an unwanted turbulance in the exhaust flow.

don't gut it...if you're 96+ you'll get a CEL...besides,there have been many dyno tests showing that the stock cat flows more than enough for your engine.you may even lose power gutting it...unless you're making a LOT more power than stock,it isn't hurting you.

Cat replacement pipe?

Cost about £100 over here in the UK (about $70) just drops in where you cat goes, has the hole for the sensor as well, and when it comes to MOT (dunno what the usa equivilant is) time, just pop your cat back in for one day and off the next.

And i wouldnt think it would make that much noise differance, my exhauzt is 96d/b at full whack, but thats cus i just have 1 long bit of pipe for a centre section, no cat, no silencer etc....

Oh and if cats where that great then all cars no matter what age would be required to have them, and they dont. And if we where that bothered about "global warming" we would stop buring 1000's of acers of forest's around the world, stop taking so many plane flights etc etc etc.....

So give me my 3-5bhp and more responcive car thanks.

I gutted my cat w/2.25" exhaust piping, i/h, and frankly.. besides the smell and sound, i didn't feel much gains. keep it and save yourself trouble down the line. or just get a straight pipe.
