Default would it be worth to save and get a b16

Is it worth it to save for a B16 along with the parts or should I get something cheaper thats better then a D16 or should I just build my D16, cus I have about 500 dollars on the way that I plan on using for the car, but i don't know what i should do.
I want more POWER.

Well if you don't have 3k+ to buy a B-Series and you want power now, then just build your D-series now and boost it. Then if you decided to get a B-Series later, you can always use the turbo from your d and just build the B to save money.

You can make around 160+WHP on your D with N/A bolt ons with a good tune for under 1k.

Ok, you can build your D with just rods/pistons than turbo it for 300 whp, I heard that stock b16 can get 400whp.

A JDM B16A (170 HP) runs about a grand (for the longblock) from H-motors, with about 35,000 on the clock. USDM B16's are generally much less. Look around, you can usually find the whole swap for under a grand. It's a good investment. B series are more robust and can take a lot more than D-series. Further investments will yield more results per dollar spent.

You also sell your D16 parts and make extra $$$ towards the swap.
In what condition is the D16? You can always boost the D16 for around the same price as picking up a B16 and you'll make more power.

i would say start building on the D16 for boost because a boosted D16 can do anything a street car will ever need to do and then some. you will need more than 500 to get it there but you can start. i suggest to everyone that they start by rebuilding the block(main&rod bearings, rings, and getting the cylinders checked and honed) as a minimum. there are lot of other things that can be checked but as long as the engine runs then you should be fine. when doing this a good set of forged pistons is a good idea.......if not a good forged rotating kit(depending on how much power you want.......ive heard about 250hp is about the safe limit for a stock D16 bottom end, so ask around for a definite answer there)

which D16 do you have?

I/H/E is a good place to start with anything...........but dont go too big on exhaust, it will actually hurt you. even with boost i think 2.5" is plenty big for a D16, next a good intake manifold will help. a good turbo kit, a cam, at this point you will want to get your head checked out, a 5 angle valve job is a good idea, have your header and IM port matched and use a good quality head gasket when you go back on with the head and use some good quality head bolts or studs like ARP.

i say yes, save for the b16. i always thought that id be happy with a z6 with good bolt ons in my civic dx (factory d15b7, 92whp factory) and i had a chance to drive a em1, gsr teg, and boosted single cam. i probably would have been more than happy with boost, but the b16 has me grinning ear to ear when i get on it.

a b16 will feel JUST like a z6/y8 until about 4500 rpms, then it wakes up and is a difference that is worth the money. if you dont want to spend the cash right now, you could do an ls swap and then down the road you would only need to change the motor/tranny versus needing all the parts at once. the gearing on the ls trans is the longest b-series, but still shorter than the ex/si d-series tranny. a complete ls would run you around a grand if you shop around

cliffs: yes, saving for b-series is worth the wait

Stock B pushing 400WHP is REALLLY pushing the limits. I would give it a week before it blows lol..

Save up for a B series. I 'm in the process of pulling out the B16 from my EM1 in favor for a B18C.
