would it be ok to sandblast my header?
so i have a dc ceramic header. the bottom has been dented which has cause some rust and even some other areas are starting to rust a little. i'm wondering if i might as well sand blast it so it looks better since it is getting rust on it any way.
Another question i have is can i paint them with high temp paint to prevent from getting rust? thanks in advance

i would say it's probably safe to sandblast. i've sandblasted on aluminum and got good results, just be sure to not stay in one area too long. i don't know the hardness of ceramic headers but i wouldn't worry about it too much. not sure about the high temp paint deal, ive never seen painted headers.

the temperature of the header probably gets to hot? anybody else know if sandblasting ceramic would cause rust?

Just spend the 100 to get it recoated.
Thats what i'm gonna do to my dc.
I cleaned up mine about a year ago.
Looked good for a while but not anymore.

I sandblasted my DC header and used some high heat silver paint. Came out decent for having $3 invested in it.

what happen to the paint? did it bubble or dissolve? with a heat gun mine were like 500 and something. i'm surprised that high of temp wasn't enough to stay good.

I had the steel headers for my Camaro sandblasted, and I painted them with stainless steel paint. I applied it with a brush, and it lasted for 5 years.

one of the headers was painted flat black and basically the paint stayed the same color but it began to flake off, there were about 4-5 coats on and let the header and it wasn't put on the car until two weeks later so the paint was definitely dry

Re: would it be ok to sandblast my header? (lee97ex)
well i ended up sand blasting them. i might get a turbo kit which would replace them but if i don't i might look into recoating them. if any one has any other ideas about what i could do to prevent rust let me know.

just get it recoated, its gonna look like it does now at some point anyway, sandblasting it shouldnt really hurt it though...at least not to the point of causing rust.
