Re: would this ecu wrk.... (ZOMBIEKILLER)
skunk2 ecu's were tuned for skunk2 parts installed on the car unless you have a d16z6 with their cams and manifold setup. or a b16 with their setup. it will do absolutly nothing to help your poor d15 to run quicker. i've already ran into a couple of dumb people that put this ecu in their car with nothing on it. thought because the ecu let's you go to 9k they can. ten minutes later their engine is a big paperweight.

These ECUs will dump more fuel into a stock engine, change timings, etc. Many people chip their ECUs with what they think is a real "OMfGz MuGennnnn ChiiIP!!!!" but it really says Mugen-style. Even if it was real, there's NO point on putting in those modified chips/ECUs on a stock or close to stock engine. I saw a few chips on ebay that said rev limit raised to 10.2k ON A [freak]ING P06 D15B7 engine.. They even encourage that this is a MUST for your "slow stock engine."
That SKUNK2 ECU isn't bad, but it's useless on a stock or close to stock engine. I'm not trying to be an *** but I've seen 6 friggin people at my job chip their ECUs. 4 lost their engine. They weren't too mad since 3 ended up dropping in LS swaps.
When people first install the chip or modified ECU, what's the FIRST and MAIN thing they're going to be doing? They'll be flooring/******* that poor engine constantly.
If you're getting the ECU to pass smog, that's a good enough reason, but I'm not sure if it would pass since you'll have extra fuel being dumped into your engine and incorrect tables of every sort on an engine that doesn't need it. I doubt the fuel would combust properly. I know you said you're going to be gentle on the engine, and that's awesome, but make sure not to get carried away like most people do.
I'm not gonna lie. I have in fact chipped my ECU years ago for about 2 weeks, then realizing "why did I do this? I'm going to end up messing up my stock engine," then I was lazy to desolder everything so I just bought another virgin ECU for 30 bucks.
This ecu will be great if you plan on upgrading in the future, but the fuel maps and settings are tuned to performance engines. Stock engines and upgraded engines have different needs. Just be careful and good luck
