would cutting and making the stock intake hole be dangerous?

Default would cutting and making the stock intake hole be dangerous?

since im gettin the js racing intake and enclosing it, i was thinkin of cutting the stock hole where you would put the CAI in and making that hole 4" or 5" in diameter.. you guys think this is dangerous?

why would you though? The smaller the better for a cai, no? If it's bigger then the air from the engine bay will be going out the hole and that will lead directly into the filter. The point of the cai is to suck air from OUTSIDE (colder than the engine bay) air.

The J's intake is short ram if i'm not mistaken... so i'm assuming he was wanting to cut the whole bigger for more air flow to the filter in the engine bay. He was asking if it would be dangerous to cut the hole. I think he was referring to structural integrity?!
