Alright,

Now before any DOHC owners get there panties in a bunch, read the entire thread before commenting please. I am interested in doing a Y8 head swap on my Y7. I know PLENTY of information about bolt ons regarding a d series engine, and how the power output is very minimal, yada yada. But my question is this. Is it worth spending $300 for an entire top end off a Y8? My friend is doing a swap on his car and will sell me the entire top end (complete head, complete intake manifold set-up with fuel rail, pump etc., even the VTEC solenoid - the only thing he isn't including is the ECU) for 300 dollars. My question is all this worth 300 bucks? I have cruised the marketplace for awhile and have concluded it would be at least 500-600 for everything you need. So this seems like a good deal to me. What do you guys think?

no not worth 300 you can buy a whole y8 longblock for that

Tell me where and I'l buy one right now because I think that's unlikely. Plus you have to pay for shipping if you buy it from someone or online and thats not cheap

It depends on the condition of the parts. You don't want to just bolt on some gunked up head - or at least I wouldn't. I gought a head for $80 and install new valves, seals, tanked it, and flattened it. In the end I had a quality part that I wasn't gonna hafta re-work after putting it on and having problems. Also, it would be good to clean and flow test your injectors. So yeah, to do it right it costs bucks.
