woops there goes the shock...story inside
well i was in my car the other night with my girlfriend and i just got back from a local show and all of a sudden, bamm bamm. my car hits a man hole cover. and then the story goes bad. i hear clunk clunk. so i drive it home and pull into the drive way, open the hood and suck to be me the shock shaft has gone threw the washer.
so we take it apart and see that the kyb shock was made to do this. see there is a washer that holds the shock from going throw the hood. so i went the the local lowes and got two washer...because i couldnt find just one that will fit. i got a little on and a bigger on.
all in all i drove it tonight and it is fine. i will alway recomend kyb agx's. they are designed perfect for the street.
i am so glad that washer gave way and didnt break my shock.
thanks kyb....
just a little story for you guys.

Isn't the KYB shock shaft tapered like the OEM shock? The washer you speak of is the one that goes on the shaft underneath the dust boot, right? Was this the OEM tapered washer that gave way? I wouldn't trust a regular washer on the tapered shock shaft. The Koni shock shaft isn't tapered, but has a collar welded to the shaft for their washer to sit on (this makes the top of the Koni shock shaft larger, which is why you have to enlarge the hole in the top of the dust boot in order to install it).
