wood trunk setup?

Re: wood trunk setup?
Elaborate? I have 2 matching wood grain sub boxes i built and stained. One in the passenger footwell (seen below, before i did my short-throw or stained the tire club) thats stained to match my oak shift **** + tire club. The other is a large one in the trunk also stained to match that i don't have photos of up yet since the trunk setup is not finished, but ile upload one here since you asked. I have red 5730 LED strip lighting that comes on when the trunk opens, its the safest color for lights that bright in the rear and easiest on the eyes at night. I do a lot of camping so everything else all needs to be removable (hence the lack of trunk interior to begin with) but I want to bedline the entire interior of the trunk black and finish around the base of the subbox (trunk floor) in wood with wood-burned details and stained to match everything else.

easiest way to do a hardwood floor setup.....get a large cardboard and cut it to the pattern of the carpet (covering the spare tire). Transfer the cut cardboard to the hardwood. You need to piece the hardwood pieces together first so you can mark the stencil outline. IF NOT, it will look like crap because the pieces won't line up

The pictures i posted are 1/2 inch traditional plywood. Looks good / stains nice just make sure you don't sand too deep and hit a glue layer. You also have to watch how your panels come together to hide the layers that show on the edge. MDF is much heavier and doesn't have any grain to it but it more forgiving to shape. What you can do there is vinyl wrap it or use stick down fake wood flooring to bring the depth of the grain back into the picture. This is how most modern furniture is done after-all.

Here is that pic I promised this ones also made from 1/2 inch ply. Wasn't the best time of day to take a picture but you get the point. The wooden toolbox holds my jack, breaker bar, fuses, ex. It needs sanded and re-stained to match everything else but its way down there on the list of priorities.
