Default Wont stay running

I have a 1996 Honda civic ex. The problem that i am having is that it will die on me It starts up fine but if i let it idle or if i rev it up a little it will die on me. if i leave it idle it will stay running a good 45 sec and then die. My check engine light will come on but it is not bright like it normally is its dime. then if i go to start it back up is wont start right away. Any one have any idea???

Sounds like the fuel system needs to be checked.

What is the CEL code being shown?

I only have a snap on code reader at my house and it does not pick up code. i think thats why the check engine light is so dim. I was thinking that my fuel pump could be going but it starts up just fine. I am kinda thinking it could be distributor

Its possible it could be something as easy as a clogged fuel filter. You need to get the CEL code first and then go from there.
