wont start, no power
 

so now my car wont start, which sucks cause im trying to sell it............ 95 ex

i have my car in the parking lot at work cause its a good place to sell it, i go out today to move it inside the shop when i got off , disarm the alarm, turn the key and i hear a click followed by the sound of a big fuse burning out or a short. no smoke, burn smell, or fire (that i know of...) so i push it into the shop and check the battery and fuses, all good, the battery is maybe 8 months old and in great shape. there is no power anywhere in the car though, no dome light, no lights in the cluster when the switch is on acc, no fuel pump priming, no headlights, nothing.

if the battery was bad, the dome light would at least be dim and my alarm would have gone off when the voltage got low. im assuming its a relay somewhere, dont know if its the main relay cause i dont know everything that it sends power to.

how can i test relays out of the car?
any ideas of what else to check?

did you check out the main 80 amp main fuse underhood?

not yet, ill have more time to go through things today at work. checked all the smaller fuses though....

the fuse main 80amp fuse that underhood that have 2 phillip screws holding it.

my + terminal was like half way off and it did the same exact thing... and i didnt notice bc my terminal has a littel rubber cover on it so you cant see it.. stupid me https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

sorry had to wait till i was off work, but i removed my monster cable terminals and bought some wal mart terminals to go on there. the wal mart term. has the metal plate with one bolt on each side holding it down, and the wire is supposed to be stripped and clamped in there. all my wires had ring terminals on them so i put the bolts through the ring terminals instead of stripping the wires. every surface on the battery terminal is painted except where the bare wire is supposed to be clamped in. paint = bad connection. http://images.honda-tech.com/set1//smile/emcrook.gif
wire brush on the bench grinder took care of it, now buy my car!

cant really beat the shit story, but I had a girlfriend that got soooo drunk one night she threw up down my windshield defroster while I was driving. Unfortunitly it was during the winter so I had to kick the heat which was the worst smell ever. I had to disassmble the entire dash and clean it.

i had a friend randomly puke all over the pass. side dash, floor and seat for no reason. not drunk or anything. still havent figured it out......

its been cleaned up for years and i have different seats now. it wasnt too bad cause he made sure most of stayed on him instead of spraying it....
