wont hold idle when cold??

i have an eg with a b16 swap. she never holds idle when she is cold i have to hold the throttle down for a coulple minutes until she is warm enough to idle on her own. is it the FITV or maybe something else. once warm it idles perfect.

is it worth cleaning the fitv or buying a new one. or checking somewhere else for porblems. i did not do the swap so maybe the coolant hoses are hooked up incorrect or are clogged.

since the fitv controls idle when coolant is cold then it seems that is what it is. Has Anyone had this problem. Could it be that the fitv valve is permanently closed and not allowing the idle to raise.

Clean and adjust the FITV.

Any CEL codes?

I would bet that someone closed your FIT valve all the way...

Fast idle thermo valve, FIT (bottom of throttle body)
function: allows more air into the intake manifold via a thermowax plastic insert thereby compensating for colder climates (and cold starts).
Recommendation: Depending on you global position/typical environment...open the end plate and loosen the white insert a bit, thereby allowing more air through under cold conditions.
