Well the basic....i/h/e....not sure if the 97 del sol is obd1 or 2 but I'd make it obd 1 if its not already. If possible Lighter Flywheel, good act street clutch, and b16a3(del sol VTEC tranny) or just any b16a hydro tranny...

You'll have fun that way and won't be getting too complicated....

Figure out your ultimate goal for you car. What it will take to get there and how much your budget is.

Then search thsi site for everything you think you may need (And you'll usually come up stuff you never knew you'd need) and make your decision from there.

Very true APEXiITR......suspension is always fun, but most go over kill (including me) but the usual are i/h/e, but it does depend on what you want to do with the car....Roadracing/autox. drag racing or just for fun and for a hobby.......

Having a well rounded car (regardless of what you are using it for) if it is a daily driver is the best way to go. Good brakes, sus, power. Now if you are more for power/drag racing/street racing/personal addiction to speed that medication can't cure, then obviously you want to place more emphasis on power. But to control that power you'll need good brakes and suspension (And tires/wheels).

Now if you are more into track racing and auto-X then you'll want pay special attention to the suspension and brakes, but you still want that extra power from exiting out of corners........

If my explanation seems a little bit confusing, I apologize. I realize that in order to enjoy a car fully (One that you like to drive whenever) then its import it look good, drive good, turn good, and stop good. Other wise when you increase one area you'll notice what you lack very quickly.

to APEX!!

I can vouch from a friend having power and no suspension is dangerous...Lets just say his fresh swapped EK hit a curb ...

But the best thing is that you enjoy your car and enjoy yourself while learning about it!!

Si Brakes are good......until you put an ITR swap and Tein suspension on the car. Never though tires had that much of on a impact on handling and braking. It all goes together. Upgrade one significantly (like a swap or turbo or both) the others can't be neglected for long.

Thanks so much for everyone's help. I really have a need for speed and want to do everything possible. soon (hopefully) money won't be a object. But until then I just want to make sure that I don't break any axles. The swap I'm doing is the motor trannie and ecu. Going from obd2 to obd1 But my friends should be able to help me with that. Once again thanks so much.
