Default Wiring P28 CHeck please verify thanks I searched and just want verification

Using a P28 ECU (and should work for most obd1 ecu's with 4-wire controls)

Run O2 Sensor signal (white) To D14
Run O2 Sensor signal Ground (green) to D22 (or any good Ground)
Run O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Control (black) to A6
Run the other black heater circuit power wire to (A25) or any good switched +12VDC source.

(you may mix up the black wires... if car dies after it is warm/10-30 seconds, that's the first thing to swap over and troubleshoot.. theres no way to tell one from the other by looking at them)

vtec solenoid

You’ll need to run the blue wire (or whichever color is from the plug) to pin D6, and then run the black ground wire from the plug to anywhere on the motor. You then need to run the green wire from the VTEC solenoid to pin A4.

Alright, I finally get my motor running but I am still having questions.
I wired up these 7 wires just how it says above.
I am still throwing a cell.
This was a obd1 z6 into a obd1 dx harness.
I used the harness from the z6 and plugged them into the dx harness at the shock tower.
My car starts ans runs fine, however the fan doesn't turn on, possible bad fan switch?
Also idle jumps up and down, and some hesitation?
thanks again
how do you know if vtec is hitting?
just rev it up to what rpm?
THis is a stock p28 ecu

Did you wire VTEC from the EX to the DX harness? VTEC kicks in at about 5200-5500 on a D16Z6.

In order for VTEC to activate the engine has to be at operating temperature and you have to be going 20+mph. Just revving the engine, cold or warm, while not moving will not engage VTEC.

Do you know what CEL you are throwing?

I wired from the source, ex, solenoid, directly to the car's harness before it plugs into the ecu.
I am familiar where the cel code check is, but I have no idea how to test it.
I understand the concept of taking a paper clip and seeing it, but I don't get how to pull the code using it that way?
thanks

To pull the cell you stick in the jumper, and then you turn the key in the ignition to the on position.

Count the long lights, then count the short lights

long light=10, short light=1
4 long lights + 1 short light= CEL code 41.

edit: And about the fan question. You let the car idle for a while so it could get hot, right?

(I assume you did since you are capable of a motor swap, just figured I'd ask though)

when you wire up a z6 into a dx hatch, obd1, do you need to wire up the o2 sensor?
I got the entire harness from the z6 swap up until the shock tower.
I am thinking that all I needed to wire up was the 3 vtec wires, and the o2 sensor should have been left alone since it was a dx?
is this true?
thanks
