Wiring Info Needed on Gsr Swap into 96 Civic CX
I'm about to help a friend out with a gsr swap in a 96 Civic CX. The car will be converted to OBD1 using a Boomslang OBD2-OBD1 conversion harness and a P72 ecu. What I need to know is if the gsr engine harness will directly clip into the the Cx's shock tower (chassis) harness. Upon searching, I found that you can use the gsr engine harness on a VX chassis (which is OBD1) with the exception of changing some of the pinouts.
IF the gsr engine harness will clip into the CX's chassis harness, do any of the pinouts need to be changed?
I'm also unsure if the CX uses a 5 wire O2 sensor (UPDATE: it uses a typical heated 4 wire O2 sensor), although I know it uses 2 O2 sensors being a OBD2 chassis. Any issues there, or re-wiring needed?
TIA, I'm used to swapping on older chassis, such as the EFs, so please feel free to school me.

An obd1 p72 looks for 2 o2 sensors ( an upstream and a down stream) or mani and cat. The GSR harness will plug in just fine. You will have to run some new wires for the VTEC and pin them into your ecu. You will also need to run a couple wires for the IABs. And I had to run a wire for the knock sensor in my eg, but I don't know if the ek came with a KS or not. All in all, it took me like an hour to run all the wires and it was my first swap.

No, it wont actually. The Integra and '92 - '95 Civic harnesses are 2 piece and have plugs at the shock tower. The '96 - '00 use a 1 piece harness, it goes straight from the engine, through the firewall to the ECU. You need to either reuse the stock harness and modify it to work, or get a '96 - '98 manual EX harness that has most of the work already done for you.

since when did obd1 have 2 o2 sensors? if u were to use a gsr harness y would u need to run new wires for vtec? i think ur wrong

Re: Wiring Info Needed on Gsr Swap into 96 Civic CX (Nisif)
Okay I thought I'd update this based upon discussions through pm (much thanks goofyej6 and others that replied to the post)
I've been used to working on older chassis, and the OBD0-OBD1 conversion harness I've used provided 4 additional wires that "teed" off of the conversion harness to wire up vtec (2 wires), knock sensor, and the IAB (if swapping a gsr motor). Where as the OBD2-OBD1 conversion harness does not have those additional wires, however I just need to add wires on the OBD2 clip pinouts or change them in regards to IACV conversion. Keep in mind I'm running a OBD1 GSR motor with a OBD1 GSR ecu in my scenario just for reference, so not all of this info would apply with running a OBD2 GSR motor with an OBD1 GSR ecu. All of this info would apply to a 96-98 Civic Cx or Dx chassis however with the described setup.
I need to add:
Vtec Wires (2 wires, one for vtec solenoid, the latter for vtec pressure switch)
Knock Sensor
IAB Solenoid
Need to Change:
3 wire IACV to a 2 wire IACV
And Won't Use these clips:
CKP (Cylinder Position Sensor)
Secondary 02 sensor
And most importantly here are the links with picture diagrams that show the needed conversions or additions to the OBD2 wiring harness pinouts:
