Default Wiring for heated seats?

Has anyone put heated seats in their Civic? If so do you have a wiring schematic that I could use?

My heating is all natural!

Eat a bunch of beans the night before the trip and the natural gases warm my bottox pretty nicely!

where are you getting heated seats from? a canadian spec prelude? acura el?? none of the seats i have seen in the us that bolt in have a heating element. if you are going to do heated seats, you can just run heavy gauge wire to it, use a high amp relay, and a switch. here is a warning, i don't know if the system you want to use has a auto shut off or a self regulated element. you could potentially either burn your butt or worse yet your seats. another warning, heated seats use a lot of power. make sure your car can handle it.

They are the leather heated option from an EL, they're in the car already, I just need to do the wiring. The relay is on the bottom of the seats, and there are only small (18AWG) wires going to the seats or switches.

^^Funny. Florida may always be warm, but here it isn't. I expect to see -35 degrees this January, so for me, heated seats is a BIG benefit, regardless of gender. I think my wife will appreciate them too. Thanks for your input.

i do not have the diagram of an el, i would get the complete wiring diagram for the heated seat circuit and make yourself something of equal quality. make sure your wiring is of heavy enough gauge so you don't start a fire. calculate the amp load to get the appropriate fuse.

you will have to use a multimeter or find a diagram to get any further. you must determine which connections are for the relay coil and which are for ground and power. from there, power your power wire to a heavy gauge ignition controlled wire; connect one side of the relay to a positive output switch; the 2 other connections should be grounded. there are also many other wiring options based off what you want to do, but i don't recommend you get into those because if you are asking for a diagram...doing triggers and safety switches will be a mess for you.

I guess I forgot to say I already used a meter and know which relay pins are for the coil. What I need to know is the OEM polarity so I can troubleshoot effectively, i.e. not blow a diode/ easily diagnose a defective heater element. Electrical troubleshooting is what I did by trade(until recently), but with the cold I'm looking to minimize my time in the garage, and I don't want to pull the seat apart to trace the wires. Any help with a schematic would be greatly appreciated.

try asking canadian peoples. or call a canadian acura dealer and see if anyone will hook you up with a diagram of that circuit.

I AM a 'canadian peoples', and there's only one acura dealer within 800 miles. They don't have a great reputation for customer service. I'm not that far from them, but they're the only one and I haven't been able to go there yet. When I get the time, I'll drop by and ask.

Just for kicks, did a search.

"The system increased your initial distance of 50 kilometers to 1600 kilometers to include at least 3 dealers in the listing.

Manitoba

Crown Acura
Winnipeg (40 km)
(888) 839-0021

Ontario

Acura 2000
Brampton (1456 km)
(905) 458-7100"

Interesting, I count only two...
