Wipers stopped working
1998 Civic EX - ever since I bought the car this past August the INT wiper setting never worked, only on low and high.
It was raining today and I had them on low as usual, working fine. Turned them off, went into a store, 20 mins later came out, the wipers don't work at all. It was an interesting drive home.
The mister still works so I don't think its the switch. I pulled the ICU from behind the left cabin fuse box. I'm trying to figure out how to test it.
I'm electrically challenged, any help would be appreciated. I want to figure out if it's the ICU or the motor. Or maybe the switch?

Re: Wipers stopped working
Here are some pics of the ICU. It looks like theres a lot of corrosion.
The manual says to test the connector on the harness but I had a hell of time contorting my idiot self to get the ICU off, how the hell do you use a multimeter in there???
Should I just replace it based on the corrosion?
The female side of the 10 pin connector on the harness look OK. I can't see the ones behind the fusebox. Maybe if I was a leprechaun.

Yep got a replacement in the mail off eBay. The fuses are good. The title and carfax did not have anything indicating flood damage.
The steering column does have a noticeable amount of rust surrounding it now that you mention it. Not sure what it's from.

Sorry I should have said fuse singular. I checked the one on the left interior kick panel for the front wiper. It was visually OK. I then replaced it with a new one (20A).

Yeah that corrosion is pretty bad, being as it happened during the rain and the rust that is present. Have you considered you have a leak somewhere? If that's the case replacing the ICU is just a temporary fix. This will happen again until you find the reason it happened in the first place.

Re: Wipers stopped working
A leak had not occurred to me.
How/where should I check for them at the front/under the steering wheel?
I only looked at the obvious trunk and sunroof before buying, and they are not leaking, as the car had been rained on before and the surrounding areas were dry.

Re: Wipers stopped working
The new ICU fixed it! Wish everything was that easy. Along the way, I found a connector that is hooked up to nothing. Can anyone tell me what it's for? Should I start a new thread?
