Winter Preperations
Hey guys,
Winter is quickly approaching and i'm wondering what you guys do to prepare your rides for the cold months. (Besides the obvious, storage)

if your gonna drive it, change the oil before winter... I cant remember if you want to run thicker or thinner oil... I want to say thinner oil, because you want to run thicker oil in the summer so it doesnt break down in the heat as easily...
Also, make sure you have a good mix of antifreeze..
Check the car over for any routine maintenance it needs... better off to do it now than when its 10 degrees outside...
Also, put a few coats of wax on the car...

indeed everything ScrapinSi said is true... and its thinner as the oil need to get up in the motor......

I always just wax a few coats, change the oil, check the coolant/replace, and buy a new set of winter wiper blades

hehehe... you should see the look on people's faces at my girl's gas station when people ask for air in their tires, and you ask if they want the winter air or the summer air.. They give you this dumfounded look like a deer in the headlights... Or this one guy says "Yeah, its about that time of year, put the winter air in that one tire for now, and i'll come back to get the rest changed in a week or 2"
I just laughed and put the air in...
Also, like was stated, check your wiper blades. Also clean your undercarraige good... That way its less you'll have to clean off in the spring after all the salt gets up in there... If you have any exposed metal parts from rubbing or scraping, clean them and paint them with rubberized undercoating...

what would be the downside with driving a car thats lowered 2 inches? Other then the fact that it might become a "snow plower" like someone here in the board mentioned to me? any other conerncs that i should have?

I drove my car lowered 3+ inches in the snow.. its all about where you want to go and how good you can handle your car... My civic sits in the winter now and I drive my neon... My neon goes ANYWHERE in the snow...

Gay...serioulsy though...eveyone else's suggestions have been valid. (With the exception of the winter air, but that made me laugh). Definately slap the steelies/all seasons back on. Other than that, back to thinner oil and make sure that you have a good antifreeze mix.
