j/K, onto my real Q...

When i turn on my wipers in the rain, the wipers skip along my windshield! not only it is loud and annoying, it doesn't wipe the damn rain... what causes that? is it because my wiper blades are dried up and need replacing? or is it because my wipers are not contacting my windshield properly? just trying to get an idea why this is happening. should i bend the wiper closer to the windshield, or just replace the wipers themselves.
thanks H-T peeps

I just replaced my wipers in the summer and the same thing is happening to me too. I would replace the wipers. (in my case "again")

$2.44 a piece at Wal-Mart for complete replacements of everything but the arm, decent and worth the time and money to replace.

i was thinking about replacing them, but when it doesn't skip, on the downward motion, it wipes just fine, very clean in fact! so i really don't think it's the blades...it's just when it is going up is when it skips and makes awful noises. hmmm. i think i'll try to bend the arm first.

Get teflon blades, coat the **** out of your windshield with rain-x.

you can also try to get an aftermarket add on spring for more downforce but I don't know if that will help.
