Hi!

I was wondering what those little codes on every window glass (in the corner) mean...

How can I determine what is the year of i.e. windshield... another words, how can I tell if the glass was broken and exchanged or if it is original.

Those R46 DOT008011 make me confused...

Does anyone has a list of those codes and what to look for in them???

I think those codes are generic for all windows from the factory (not exclusive to your car)... I have a 92 si and the vin is on every piece of glass on my car...

If they are the same numbers on every window, then they are probably acid etchings. Anti-theft device. That way if a theif wants to take your car, they have to replace all of the windows inorder to be able to drive it without the cops noticing. Kind of lame, but usually lowers your insurance by almost %25.

I think you misunderstood me...

I am not talking about VIN... I am talking about those little numbers in the left or right lower corner of each window glass...

Mine says something like:

HONDA PPG
Tinted
E46 DOT008011
blablabla

Now, some say that some of those numbers express the year that the glass was manufactured... the same thing is with headlights and tail lights... they also have some little codes on them but I don't know how to determine which code means what...
