Im gonna be pushin some big power so i want to know i can stop when i need to. I was lookin at brake kits and I came across this wilwood kit:

I was wondering how much better would this kit be as opposed to the brakes i got now (OEM).

Upgrade your pads, that's all you need unless you're tracking it.

Willwood is good but its bling! If you search on here, you can find really good upgrades from other cars (preludes, tegs,..) that will meet the same performance as a willwood. Willwood is for da bling, but if your short on cash, do a search.

really? you think other honda/acura oem calipers will stop a b17a1@20psi? If they can do that just let me know which ones to looks for, i need them to fit on a 93ex coupe.

Brakes don't stop the motor, they stop the car. What kind of speeds do you expect to be hitting with this, and where?

A drag strip? Upgraded pads will be sufficient.
A road course? Upgraded pads and fluid should be enough. Maybe run some ducting and remove dust shields.
The street? You're an idiot.

yeah id be running it at top speeds on the strip of course, and id want the brakes to be strong enough to slow me down quick enough to run a road course.

I know brakes only stop the car, thats what i want to stop. What do you mean by run ducting? What fluid/pads do you suggest?

It REALLY depends on what you're doing. Since you've already got 4-wheel discs I don't really think you need to upgrade the size of the rotors yet.

For drag you'll be fine with a set of Axxis Ultimates (can be used on the street too).

IF you do road course stuff you'll want to get maybe some ATE SuperBlue and track-only pads (meaning you change to them when you get there), like CarboTech XP8s.

Ducting is running drier hosing (or other similar tube) through the ducts in your bumper and to the center of your rotors, it aides cooling quite a bit.

Crap, didn't know EX Coupes had drums. You many want to look in to getting an integra rear brake upgrade then.

I like the ATE super blue/gold fluid and some Hawk pads. They WILL eat those rotors though.

If you're a beginner at the track SuperBlue and Axxis Ultimates should be fine. If you find that you're fading those pads you'll want to upgrade to some Hawks or Carbotech XP8s at which point you'll also want to have 2 sets of pads (1 track, 1 street).

Standard civ brakes aren't that great, nowhere near good enough for track unless your a steady driver. Have a look at getting some prelude calipers which have much larger pistons, possibly one of the best mods for the price you can do to your car.

Obviously tie this in with good brake fluid and braded lines also improve brake feel which is a bonus for 'on the limit' driving.

With pads and fluid they should be perfectly fine for the beginner and intermediate driver. I am nearing advanced and have just now reached the limitations of the civic braking system.

sweet.... it seems like any pads i have used after fresh rotors on my civs and tegs have just warped in no time!

you tell me the whole point of this exercise was to stuff the biggest brake behind the smallest wheel... so I ditched my 15 inch Helium wheel (which I miss very much ) and took a gamble. You need 13.95" clearance straight out from the hub mounting face. Measure the wheel before you buy it.

SOME 15's will work like GSR swirlies, 99-00 Si's, spoon (i believe) with wilwood/fastbrakes 11" kit..pretty sure this was asked & answered before...i remember 15" rotas = no fit search wilwood or fastbrake topics here are a couple

the wilwood brake kit is 12.2 inches, MINIMUM is SOME 16 inch wheels. Like I said, 13.95" clearance on the inside of the wheel.

i have wilwood brakes, they stop the car alot better than the stock brakes, wilwood uses 4-piston calipers instead of the stock 2-piston, so ur gonna have better braking power. 16' inch wheel is the smallest that can fit also
