Default Will y8 pistons work in a z6?

Hey, I've got a d16z6 that im rebuilding and was wondering if the higher comp. y8 pistons would work in this engine or if its not worth it? also would there be a noticable difference in power?

yes it will bump your compression up slightly

what would I have to do to make it work? Would I be able to just swap pistons and rods or could i re-use my z6 rods?

i believe z6/y7/y8/z1/d15b rods are the same. b1/b2/b7/b8 rods are shorter. the wrist pins are press in. im running a set of b7 pistons, with the same milled valve recess s the z6, and im getting a 10.8 to 1 compression ratio.

D16Z6/SOHC Vtec ZC/JDM OBD1 D15B Vtec/D16Y7/D16Y8/OBD2 SOHC ZC all use the same rods, Other D15B/D15Z1 engines use different rods due to the smaller rod journals on D15 cranks (except the OBD1 D15B Vtec, which has an unique to it crank that uses Z6 sized rod journals with D15 sized main journals) The piston end of the rods are all the same for D-series as I recall though. Y7/Y8 pistons are nearly identical to Z6, if I was going to go to all that trouble I'd throw in some D15B7 pistons since they're flat topped.

i believe i stated that above. but you cant just throw in a set of b7 pistons. valve recesses need to be milled in. i believe i measured .0013 clearance in vtec. milled .005 recesses. cleared fine. using an oem head gasket.

im using y8 wisecos in my z6 no problem. all d16 rods are the same. anything from a d15 is not interchangeable without modification.

i think the y8 pistons are close to being the same as the z6's. you may get a .5 compression bump. but they will fit on the z6 rods with no problem.

im putting a6 pistons on my z6, milling the head and thinner head gasket (y8 2-layer)
and some other odds and ends, i just want a bigger banging car thats still reliable.

not trying to steal your thread but i think if your gonna spend money on new pistons you wont be satisfied with just the y8's
