Default Will the stock EK coupe exhaust work with a swap?

So i searched, and came up mostly with EG questions and answers and EK hatch questions and answers. From what i have read, the stock EK hatches and coupes exhaust piping lengths are different.

Anyway, I wanted to know if i kept my stock EK COUPE exhaust when swapping in a b-series motor, would the stock exhaust piping bolt up to the exhaust manifold the swap came with?

it would have to be from the cat back and yes. im not sure if the catalytic converter bolt flanges are the same on a B-series and D-series header.

forgot to add in that i'm asking about the DX coupe exhaust, so the piping would be longer since the stock DX cat is on the manifold itself.

You should get an exhaust mid pipe (b-pipe) from an EX or aftermarket manufacturer. I just swapped a Y8 into my 98 hatch and used the stock DX exhaust for a while. The Y8 (or b-series) header will bolt to the DX mid-pipe and eliminate any cat convertor, but the stock DX exhaust diameter and EX/B-series header diameter are a little different. So, even though they bolted together, I had a terrible exhaust rattle between 2500 and 3500 rpm (where I do most of my driving). VERY annoying. I then bought an EX replacement cat and EX mid pipe, bolted that on and viola, no exhaust rattle.

The short answer to your question is yes, a DX exhaust will work with a swap, but not very well. If you want to do it right, you should look for an EX mid pipe.

Another thing you need to look for is secondary O2 sensor placement (a problem i'm having now). Both DX sensors are on the main harness, while EX's and Si's have one on the engine harness and another that plugs into the dash harness through a sub harness. I'm having to buy an EX dash harness in order to plug in my secondary O2 sensor to get my VTEC working, yo. You would need to do the same if you want to do it right.

Good luck.
