you should not put different diameter wheels on the drive axle.

you may get away with it for a trip or two. but yeah, your friend is right

Your differential is designed to allow the wheels to rotate at different speeds (while cornering etc.) which is the exact situation that you have while running a donut. Honda wouldn't put them in the cars for emergency use if they would damage the vehicle.

its like turning real tight for miles and miles on end. not a good thing. makes your diff spin a lot more than it is used to and more than it was intended to.
now getting home 10 miles wont kill it, but as long as you change it asap. if you really need to go a distance on a donut, put it on the back, where you are just spinning a bearing
hope that helps

just dont drive over 65 and try not to hit any pot holes. honda puts them in your trunk for emergency purposes so just make sure you dont drive around with it for ever try to get the original wheel fixed as soon as you can.

Yeah, but it's an emergency use only wheel. I'm not saying it's okay to run it like that for DD purposes, but running a donut long enough to get to a safe location or fix your tire isn't going to damage anything.

I'm fully aware of this, but the sheer act of spinning the differential faster for a period of time while the donut is on there is not going to 'ruin' it. The extra wear will be minimal if used as specified in the manual.

If I remember right, your spare tire is only rated at 45mph. After you put it on, you MUST check the tire pressure, and make sure it's at the recomended setting. They severly limit your traction, so be really carful. One emergency stop, and your gonna rear end somebody...

Get your regular tire fixed ASAP.
