will a p28 chipped with jdm ITR settings still need the vtec solenoid if put on a EJ?
a 95 civic is havin a 96 spec jdm itr engine put in it. you plan to run the p28 ecu that came with the car, but have it chipped with the stock jdm itr settings. my question is that since the stock p73 triggers the vtec automatically, which would be the reason why the jdm itr engine does not have the vtec solenoid, would the chipped p28 with itr settings not need the vtec solenoid installed, or would it still need it?
anyone especially with an EJ or EG using a p28 chipped itr ecu are preferably the one to answer since you guys are in the same scenario.. THANKS A LOT IN ADVANCE!!

even with the ITR program in the ecu...you will need to hook up the vtec pressure switch because the p28 needs that signal..only way not to use it is get a jdm spec p73

Re: (JinDIESEL)
jdm itr motor does have a vtec solenoid but without a vtec pressure switch.
i think what your really trying to ask is. Do i need a usdm vtec solenoid with
pressure switch? YES YOU DO. if you wanna do it the right way since your
using a usdm ecu.
If your low on money and wanna do it the cheap way
just jump the vtec solenoid and vtec pressure switch ecu pins together.
CLIFF NOTES
JDM vtec motors= vtec solenoid with no vtec oil pressure switch.
USDM vtec motors= vtec solenoid with vtec oil pressure switch
ecu looks for the pressure switch.

how much is this vtec pressure switch? part no.? and how would i jump the vtec solenoid and vtec pressure switch ecu pins?

241.94
for the whole vtec solenoid assembly.
for a jumper
run a wire between ecu pin
A4=vtec solenoid
&
D6=vtec pressure switch
